How PergolaBuyer Evaluates Pergolas
PergolaBuyer compares products using published manufacturer information and clearly identified sources. We do not claim to have physically tested a pergola unless we actually have.
What we compare
- Manufacturer specifications and available dimensions
- Current published pricing
- Manual or motorized operation
- Installation configurations
- Published wind and snow ratings
- Accessories and smart/control features
- Warranty information

Affiliate commission is not a scoring factor. The matcher also uses hard shopping filters for requirements such as motorized operation, confirmed wall mounting, size groups and certain severe-weather selections. Those filters are shopping heuristics, not engineering determinations.
How the results are chosen
Best Match is the highest overall score among products that clear the selected shopping filters. Alternative labels are dynamic so they describe the actual relationship to the top match. Depending on the results, you may see labels such as Lower-Cost Alternative, Value Alternative, Motorized Upgrade, Premium Manual Alternative, Premium Upgrade, or Strong Alternative.
If only one product clears every selected filter, PergolaBuyer shows one product rather than filling empty recommendation slots. When more than three products qualify, the top three are shown first and the remaining matches are available in a compact list. When no product clears the hard filters, the matcher says so rather than forcing a recommendation.
What we do not pretend
When a product has not been physically tested by PergolaBuyer, recommendations are research-based. A product’s published structural number is presented as manufacturer shopping information, not as an engineering determination for a specific property.
